Quotes

Zhenja is a teacher’s teacher. Her knowledge of the human body, especially through yoga and the Anusara principles is nothing short of amazing. As a Structural Integration Practitioner, she is one of the few yoga teachers with whom I can compare anatomical notes about the body in an interesting way.

I have been fortunate to experience the wisdom of wonderful Anusara teachers, and I count Zhenja La Rosa among the finest teachers I have ever worked with. She instructs with an extraordinary clarity that communicates Anusara’s hallmark biomechanical principles, as well as the empowering Tantric philosophies that undergird this unique style of hatha yoga. In both everyday teaching and more intensive contexts, Zhenja has a special gift for addressing therapeutic issues whether they arise from injuries or the stresses of everyday life; I am so grateful for the focused attention I have received from her instruction and hands-on adjustments. Above all, I want to celebrate Zhenja’s gift in instructing yoga teachers. As an educator, I’m especially impressed by the breadth and depth of her knowledge and her ability to communicate this knowledge to those on the teacher’s path.

Zhenja is one of the greatest gifts in my life. She has been a supportive, guiding force for me as a teacher, and as mentor. Zhenja mentored me during my process toward Anusara Certification. To great success, I became a Certified Anusara Teacher in May of 2008. This was a huge accomplishment, after 5 years of steady dedication to the path. I can honesty say that Zhenja was one of the reasons I received this honor. She gave me the confidence while at the same time challenging me to step into my potential as a teacher. Zhenja, with her sweet heart, brilliant mind, sharp eye, and honest sensibility helped greatly improve and sharpen my teaching skills. Not only did I become better at articulating technical principles but, Zhenja helped me in refining my heart themes and integrating them into my asana sequences more gracefully. My classes became more spirited because of it. While under her guidance, I always felt empowered and was continually learning. I still continue to learn from Zhenja everyday in her classes. She invites all of her students to a great expansion of heart, as we follow her lead.

I practiced along to Zhenja’s recordings for a year while living in the mountains of western China. I found them so lively and informative, I’d sometimes listen to them while cooking my dinner. The recordings served as a deep reminder to me of my connection to the larger yoga community even as I occupied one of the more remote corners of the earth. While I of course miss Zhenja and the crew at Vira while abroad, the opportunity of continued participation that her recorded classes provides ensures for me a much smoother expat experience.

I wanted to thank you for your magical work on my back this week. I spent five days in pain, visited a masseuse, saw a acupuncturist, and it wasn’t until your brilliant hands worked on my sacrum that everything instantly felt better. I feel so honored to have you as my teacher and am in constant awe of your wealth of knowledge on all levels- asana, history, anatomy, therapy, and just life in general. You truly have an amazing gift that you share so generously and I feel very lucky to be a part of that.

Thank you for being there-
xoxo

Zhenja is 2 parts bhakti yogi, 2 parts jnana yogi, and all parts glorious hatha yogi.
She is as radiant as the Sun that illumines our way, and as humble as the moon that reflects our own light back. In my more than 20 years of yoga practice, I have rarely met a teacher as devoted, committed, steadfast, talented and big hearted as Zhenja.
She is a true example of yoga lived and loved.
